The magnificent building at Pen Bron Point was constructed between 1707 and 1723.
In 1824, it became the first cannery on the point, producing sardines in olive oil.
Later, in 1887, it was converted into a marine center for treating the sick.
Today, this specialized healthcare facility—focused on rehabilitation and functional recovery—has been relocated to Saint-Nazaire, and plans for the building's future use are currently being considered.
Pen Bron Point and Dune: La Turballe boasts the longest and most beautiful dune belt on the peninsula. It is a magnificent, protected site featuring a vast dune system and a maritime pine forest.
